School Library Media Mission Statement
The mission of the library media program is to prepare students to become informed and opinionated democratic citizens by being effective and discriminating users of information. This mission is accomplished:
* by encouraging reading of all types for enjoyment and to quench intellectual thirst
* by collaborating with educators to design curriculum that incorporates information/visual/media literacy, technology, and differentiation (where needed) in appropriate ways to meet the needs of all students
* by modeling and teaching ethical use of resources
* by promoting intellectual freedom and providing access to resources in all formats
* by teaching students how to evaluate all types of resources
* by teaming with faculty and staff to make reading, note-taking, and study strategies visible
* by providing programming that encourages reading and building a community of learners
* by maintaining a welcoming and comfortable library environment
